SHENYANG: More than 16,000 people in China’s Liaoning Province have been affected by heavy rains as of Saturday, local media said.
Most areas in Liaoning were hit by moderate to heavy downpours, and some areas were hit by extreme storms and hail, the Xinhua News Agency reported on Monday citing the provincial flood control and drought relief headquarters.
The agency indicated that so far a total of 16,583 people have been affected.
The province has relocated 4,513 people to safety. The affected crop area amounts to 2,533.13 hectares of land, which has meant a direct economic loss of some 26 million dollars.
