Former President Bill Clinton was hospitalized Tuesday night with an infection not related to Covid.

“On Tuesday night, President Clinton was admitted to the ICU Medical Center to receive treatment for an infection not related to Covid,” Clinton’s spokesman Angel Urena said in a statement Thursday night. “He is improving, in a good mood, and incredibly grateful to the doctors, nurses, and staff who gave him excellent care.”

Reuters confirmed that Clinton was admitted to the UCI Medical Center in Irvine, California (Orange County).

Urena shared with Fox News a joint statement from Drs. Alpesh Amin and Lisa Bardack.

“President Clinton was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center and diagnosed with an infection,” the doctors wrote. “He was admitted to the hospital for close follow-up and given intravenous antibiotics and fluids. He remains in the hospital for continuous follow-up. “

“After two days of treatment, his white blood cell count is dropping and he is responding well to antibiotics,” the doctors added. “The California-based medical team has been in constant communication with the President’s New York-based medical team, including his cardiologist. We hope he will go home soon.”
