Indianapolis Colts wide receiver TY Hilton is expected to miss several weeks after sustaining an unspecified injury during practice Wednesday, according to The Athletic’s Stephen Holder and Zak Keefer.

The injury is reportedly not considered the end of the season.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter later reported that Hilton was being evaluated for an upper back / neck injury.

Hilton has faced various injuries in recent years. In 2019, he missed six games due to a quadriceps strain and a calf tear, and in 2020 he missed one game with a groin injury.

Hilton’s best season came in 2016 when he caught 91 passes for 1,448 yards and six touchdowns. However, the 31-year-old has only one 1,000-plus-yard season since 2017. Last year, he had 56 receptions for 762 yards and five touchdowns.

The Colts will have to rely on Michael Pittman Jr., Zach Pascal, Mike Strachan, Parris Campbell and Ashton Dulin if Hilton loses time to open the season.

Pittman, a 2020 second-round pick, is expected to leap forward in his second season after catching 40 passes for 503 yards and a touchdown last season.
