Texas man who claimed his wife shot herself exposed by their three-year-old daughter

An American man who allegedly shot his wife might have gotten away with the horrible crime, if not for the couple’s young daughter.

A Texas man who claimed that his wife actually committed suicide while fighting was exposed as her alleged killer when his three-year-old son told police: “Daddy shot Mom.”

Dabreon Banks, 27, is charged with fatally shooting Kimberly Hernandez, 24, inside her Houston apartment Monday night. New York Post reports.

The couple’s youngest daughter and 20-month-old son were inside the home at the time, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.

Banks had initially claimed that he and Hernandez were “playing fight” when the gun was fired, but later said she shot herself in the head during a physical argument over text messages on her phone.

Neighbors told authorities they had heard Banks yell that his wife had just shot herself moments after the shots rang out.

But officers said the couple’s daughter witnessed the shooting and told them that “Dad shot Mom.”

“Officers spoke with a juvenile eyewitness who told officers that ‘Dad shot Mom.’ He waved his hand like a pistol, “prosecutors said in court Wednesday, according to KTRK.

“The officers spoke with another witness who claimed that the same boy told him: ‘Daddy shot Mom.’

The two children were not injured and are currently being cared for by relatives.
