The Pentagon has told federal contractors in Texas that Greg Abbott’s order doesn’t matter and that they should get vaccinated.
Here was the guide for defense contractors in Texas:
BREAKING: The Pentagon says defense contractors in Texas should get the COVID-19 vaccine despite the governor of Texas. Greg Abbott does not have the legal authority to supersede federal law
This is basic civic education. Greg Abbott, as Governor, does not have the power or authority to supersede federal laws / executive orders. Joe Biden is the President of the United States. Its vaccine mandate takes authority over any order Abbott has or may issue.
Governor Abbott cannot prevent federal contractors in your state from receiving the vaccine.
It’s called the Supremacy Clause. It’s in the constitution. Federal law is the supreme law of the land. Joe Biden has the authority to set the terms and conditions of employment for federal contractors.
The Pentagon was correct in sending the message to Greg Abbott that he and his “order” can go stone-kicking.
Abbott cannot dictate the terms and conditions of federal contracts, and there is nothing it can order to replace President Biden’s federal authority.
If contractors want to keep their federal contracts, they must follow Biden’s order and get vaccinated.
