Also, the series is based on a true story.
People seek therapists when life becomes too difficult for them alone. Most of the time, therapists really make things easier, but other times, not so much. There are times when the patient cannot cooperate with the patient’s methods, and at other times his communication will not be good. But in the new limited series of Apple TV + The psychiatrist next doorstarring Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd, things turn out a lot weirder.
The story is by Martin “Marty” Markowitz (Ferrell), an Ivy League-educated millionaire, and Dr. Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf (Rudd). As shown in the trailer, they start out as regular patients and therapists, until Dr. Ike infiltrates Marty’s business, takes him away from his family, and even moves into their house later. The scariest part of all this is that it is based on a true story.
Ferrell said Weekly entertainment that the story can be related in some way to anyone who has done therapy. He also hadn’t heard of the actual incident until he received the script and said he shook it.
The true story
Markowitz had spoken about his experience and talked about how Dr. Ike and his wife moved into their home in the Hamptons, became president of his business, and even took over his $ 2.5 million Swiss bank account. He said that he felt like he was in a cult and that it was one ethical violation after another. Dr. Ike was a popular therapist on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. He had clients like Gwyneth Paltrow and Courtney Love, so Markowitz had no reason to doubt him. Markowitz spent 29 years under his power and 11 years fighting for justice.
The psychiatrist next door will air on Friday, November 12, 2021.
