After months of radio silence, Sony and Marvel are heavily promoting the Spider-Man: No Way Home film. Just in the last week, we saw so many new tv commercials which followed the release of the second trailer, as well as some additional posters. That’s not surprising, considering that tickets will go on sale next Monday. But we are getting the same general information from these promotional releases. One Spider-Man (Tom Holland), his friends, and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) will battle five villains hailing from alternate universes in the MCU. No trace of Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield In these promotional materials, Sony and Marvel are not ready to confirm the film’s best-known spoiler.
Separately, we have witnessed an increased number of leaks detailing some key events from the movie. We have already explained venom cameo other the purpose of the symbiote. Similarly, we learned how Daredevil will appear on There is no way home. Now is the time to talk about the film’s main villain, and an insider has a new scoop on that topic. Like the other leaks, you should know that significant spoilers may follow below.
the There is no way home villains
Sony and Marvel made fun of five villains in the first There is no way home trailer in late August. They showed us Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), which is a revelation they must have felt compelled to give us. That’s because Molina confirmed his participation in the film and revealed the plot of the multiverse several months before. We also got a breakthrough from Green Goblin. And the clip also shed clues to three other villains: Electro, Sandman, and The Lizard.
The second trailer confirmed the five villains. Then Sony and Marvel began showing them in greater detail in the television commercials that followed. We saw the new costumes and received confirmations that Willem Dafoe and Jamie Foxx reverted to their roles as Green Goblin and Electro. Likewise, we expect Thomas Haden Church and Rhys Ifans to return as Sandman and The Lizard.
But like the first trailer, the new videos mainly show Doc Ock’s battle with Spider-Man. Doc Ock is also featured heavily on posters. All of this apparently suggests that he is the main villain of the five. However, it turns out that may not be the case.
Spiderman the escape gives us the main villain
Daniel Richtman is a trusted Marvel expert who has provided accurate MCU scoops in the past. He revealed a lot of There is no way home details too, including Daredevil’s great cameos. Now, he’s back with a new video cover Spider-Man: No Way Home main villain.
Richtman says that Norman Osborn, aka Green Goblin, will be the big bad villain in the movie. This doesn’t happen right away, the leaker said. Osborn is good for the most part, but he turns evil once his Green Goblin character takes over. In addition, he does something “very drastic” to make it very clear that he is the main antagonist.
The leaker doesn’t say what that drastic thing is. But other leaks said that Goblin will be responsible for the death of at least one of Peter’s loved ones.
Interestingly, Richtman says that Doc Ock is a good guy. Also, he will remain a good guy for most of the movie. That makes sense given the character arc in Raimi. Spider man 2. Not to mention, we may already have a clue in the There is no way home trailer that Otto is not the bad boy you think he is.
On the other hand, MCU trailers are often meant to fool people. The more scenes we get from that bridge fight between Doc Ock and Spider-Man, the clearer it is that he can’t be the main villain of the movie.
Spider-Man: No Way Home It will go on sale on December 17. That gives us a few more weeks of leaks that could reveal even more details about the movie.
