Microsoft’s new online museum celebrates 20 years of Xbox

It’s been 20 years since Microsoft introduced the original Xbox which, by the way, is the only model of the company’s game console that I have owned.

Although I am a PlayStation gamer, I am also interested in consoles of the past, and for that reason I have spent an enjoyable hour exploring Microsoft’s new Xbox Museum. This site allows you to discover the history of the brand and also the history of aura, Microsoft’s most famous game series.

With 132 highlights, the museum has sketches of early prototypes to view, as well as numerous videos to view. If you’ve owned different Xbox models over the years, you can log into your Xbox account and take a look at your own journey.

In addition to the many triumphs of the console, the museum also dives into less successful historical moments, such as Microsoft’s failed attempt to buy Nintendo and the infamous Red Ring of Death bug that plagued the Xbox 360.

The Settings gear at the top right of the museum allows you to change the camera’s point of view from 1st to 3rd person, reverse the XY axis, and turn motion and / or sound effects on or off.

You can explore the Xbox Museum here.

What memories do you have of the Microsoft game console?
