The Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Canary Island of La Palma spewed lava and rocks into the air as the eruption continued to gather momentum. Local media reported that the northern side of the crater had collapsed Sunday night, causing a faster lava flow. Cadena Ser radio said the collapse had formed a new lava flow that threatened several nearby towns.
