Grisham said he hopes Trump will decide not to run in 2024, although he believes he will make an offer to return to executive office.
“He’ll probably have some pretty draconian policies,” Grisham said. “There were a lot of conversations where people were like, ‘That will be the second term, that will be the second term,’ which means we won’t have to worry about, you know, re-election.”
Grisham’s interview came a day before the publication of his memoir, “I’ll Take Your Questions Now,” which recounts his time working at the White House.
In his book, Grisham said Working with Trump was “terrifying” because of the anger he often directed at her and other people.
“When I started to see that his temper wasn’t just from shock or cameras … I started to regret my decision to go to the West Wing,” he wrote.
Grisham admits that he “should have talked more” and says that eventually “Virtually” every member of the Trump team “eventually exhausted their welcome with the president.”
Trump, in a statement to The Hill last week, criticized Grisham’s memoir, calling her “very angry and bitter.”
“She got very angry and bitter after their breakup and as time went on she was rarely trusted, not even thought about. She had big problems and we thought that she should solve those problems herself. Now, like everyone else, a radical left-wing editor pays him to say bad and false things, “Trump said.
