Indonesian Open 2021 | PV Sindhu in quarterfinals, Kidambi Srikanth overthrown

India’s PV Sindhu entered the women’s singles quarterfinal at the Indonesian Open in Bali on Thursday with a 21-12, 21-18 win over Germany’s Yvonne Li. In her first match, Sindhu had managed to overtake Japan’s Aya Ohori. in three games, taking more than an hour to beat her.

Now she will face the winner of the match between Spain’s Beatriz Corrales and South Korean Shuttler Sim Yujin in the quarterfinals.

Regarding the other results, the bronze medalist of the World Championship B Sai praneeth edged C Popov of France 21-17, 14-21, 21-19, in three matches. But compatriot Kidambi Srikanth failed to beat Tokyo gold medalist Viktor Axelsen of Denmark. The world number 1 beat the Indian 14-21, 18-21.

In men’s doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty edged out South Korean pairing Kang MH and Seo SJ 21-15, 19-21, 23-21, to enter the quarterfinals. The Indian challenge had previously finished in the competition’s mixed doubles and women’s doubles categories.
