A happy weekend to everyone who is a fan of Schitt’s cove, Annie murphy, or burning sexist tropes from sitcoms: AMC has revamped the show Kevin can fuck himself for a second season, according to reports.
The first season of Kevin can fuck himself – which I started watching on Friday night and plan to binge on for the rest of the weekend – stars Murphy as Allison McRoberts, a violently genre-changing comedy-racked wife. The show, as described in VF, “Toggles between an old school multi-camera network sitcom and a prestigious single-camera broadcast drama.” The effect is perhaps cathartic for any woman who has smiled through a barrage of sexist comments disguised as humor.
“It has been a bit upon how quickly and easily I can smash a glass on the wall and kick trash cans while screaming, ”Murphy previously said. VF “I think as women we’re all holding back a lot, so it’s really lovely to have a sensational outlet for that.”
The show, created by Valerie Armstrong, features Eric Petersen as Murphy’s child husband. Has an admirable 81% in rotten tomatoes. Nevertheless, the New Yorkers Alexandra Schwartz took a more critical approach, arguing that Allison is “a pawn, not a character, freed from one set of absurd gender restrictions only to be chained to another.”
Nevertheless, Kevin can fuck himself seems to have found its audience. “It was the largest series launch in AMC + ‘s 14-month history and generated more registrations for the streaming package during its run than any other show,” according to the Hollywood reporter, citing AMC Networks. The second season will premiere next year, Deadline reports.
For fans, this news hopefully makes up for the sad cancellation of the Schitt’s cove Farewell tour.
