Forget the politics and let’s have a sensible debate

The simple fact is that an unvaccinated person is a public health risk. That is easy to say. It is just as easy to say, as many do, that it is a free country. But what they mean by that is not that simple.

Pauline Hanson’s COVID-19 vaccine mandates bill has come and gone, but it served both her and Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s political purposes and they will be very pleased.

Since Parliament will not have an intelligent debate on the matter, perhaps we should do so. There is a serious problem here, with the majority of the vaccinated population, but a significant part of the rump either refuses or cannot. Given the epidemiological mechanics of COVID, there are unprecedented social dilemmas for resolution.
