AJ Edu, one of Gilas Pilipinas’ front-line pillars, spoke about his current rehabilitation after sustaining his third knee injury in his young basketball career.
The Filipino-Nigerian big man shared several video clips of his rehabilitation in a Facebook post on Saturday, where he said he was “… determined to keep pushing to get stronger.”
Edu, who is currently enrolled in the University of Toledo, a Division I program of the United States National College Athletics Association, tore his left knee ligament last July, according to a local news report.
It was a disappointing hitch for the 21-year-old, who was coming back from a right knee problem that worsened in November of last year. He initially suffered a torn ligament during the 2019 Fiba (International Basketball Federation) U19 World Cup in Greece, which prevented him from playing several games for the Toledo Rockets.
Edu was very encouraged in an Inquirer interview in June: “I feel like I can jump at practically the same level, move like the same level.”
A close friend of Kai Sotto, another cornerstone for the Nationals, Edu is turning to his faith to help him recover.
“I always look back at my favorite verse Jeremiah 29:11: I trust God’s plan for me, so despite the circumstances I face, I will continue to work toward his perfect plan,” his post read.
