MANILA, Philippines – Add proposing to your longtime girlfriend to the list of things Derrick Rose has done on a basketball court, and at Madison Square Garden no less.
The 2011 MVP asked the question at a private dinner at the Knicks’ home and posted a poem dedicated to Alaina Anderson on his Instagram account.
“We are two peas in a pod because [because] we really are misunderstood. We have our hearts and our flair for this place called Englewood, ”Rose wrote.
“I will always love you because [because] you go further. We build a beautiful family and an unbreakable bond. Thank you Queen “.
Anderson, according to TMZ, did not expect Rose to propose to her that day, as the Knicks point guard only gave her a promise ring the day before the proposal saying “hopefully one day I can get her something real.”
Rose, 33, and Anderson, 26, have been together since 2016 and have two children.
The 2008 Draft’s No. 1 overall pick is in his second season in his second stint with the Knicks and has helped the franchise reach the 2021 Playoffs with an average of 14.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists.
Rose spent his first eight years with the Chicago Bulls before he was traded to New York in 2016.
He then spent a brief stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers before joining the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2018 and then the Detroit Pistons in 2019.
