The African Football Confederation finally gave in to pressure from European clubs with the dates chosen for the 2023 African Cup of Nations.

CAF announced this Thursday that the 2023 African Cup of Nations will be held in Ivory Coast on different dates than usual.

There have been calls from European clubs for the biggest showpiece in Africa, the African Cup of Nations, to move January to a convenient time.

This cry from the best European clubs that have many African stars in their team has fallen on deaf ears as CAF continues to organize the tournament on normal dates.

But it appears CAF has now given in to the call after its latest announcement that AFCON 2023 will take place in June and July.

The 34th edition to be held in Ivory Coast will begin from June 23 to July 23, 2023.

This is the second time in recent years that the African Cup of Nations will be organized in June-July and not in the usual January-February.
