The series is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2022.
It’s official! AMC has given the green light to the episodic anthology series, Tales of the walking dead.
AMC has ordered six episodes lasting one hour and tells stories set in the Walking Dead world. The series will feature new and old characters. Showrunner will be Channing Powell, who has served as a writer and producer on both the original and the Fear the undead. He will work with Scott M. Gimple, the content director for the successful AMC franchise.
About the new series
Dan McDermott, president of original programs for AMC Networks and AMC Studios says the series made television history and attracted an army of fans. In the world they have created, there is the possibility of telling rich stories. Thanks to the anthology format they have adopted, they can entertain both old fans and newcomers alike. He talked about the attractiveness shown as Twilight zone other Black mirror brought, and it can also work with this apocalyptic world.
More focus on new stories
The first announcement for the series was made in September 2020. At that time, it was also announced that the main show will end with its eleventh season. Additionally, Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride would star in a spin-off about their characters Daryl and Carol, but no news was released afterward.
Gimple said the new series will unfold with new voices, perspectives and ideas. This gives them the opportunity to create stories with a different rhythm. He also thanked AMC for the opportunity to extend the show even further and bring new content for viewers. Hopefully we can see more of this zombie world.
