Despite his significant achievements as an international business leader, having built Africa’s largest steel producer from scratch, Ahmed ezz He has indicated that his greatest pleasure in life was serving the people of Egypt as a Member of Parliament, helping to build a more prosperous and ambitious future for his country and raising issues affecting local communities.
Ezz, lauded for his integrity, vision and drive, served as a Member of Parliament from 2000 to 2011, having been elected by the Menouf El-Sadat constituents in 2000 and re-elected in 2005 and 2010.
Having learned the value of self-responsibility from an early age – his father instilled in him the belief that each of us is responsible for our own successes and failures in life and that anything is possible with hard work and determination – Ahmed Ezz He was determined to provide the opportunities ordinary people need to achieve their ambitions and prosper.
During his time in office, Mr. Ezz worked tirelessly, championing local causes at the national level and advancing the interests of his constituents. He used his intellect, understanding and knowledge unique to the business world to influence and advance national policies for the benefit of all Egyptian citizens.
Throughout his tenure as a Member of Parliament for Menouf El-Sadat, Mr. Ezz closely monitored issues affecting people living within his constituency, working fervently to introduce laws or amend laws that overcome barriers to progress and challenges hampering the local population.
As a deputy for Menouf El-Sadat, Mr. Ezz took a personal interest in supporting his constituents, expanding access to opportunities and experiences that otherwise would not have been available to them. Mr. Ezz personally sponsored a wide range of different projects in his constituency through the Al Ezz Organization for Local Community Development, a NGO which he established in 2002.
This included funding projects to provide support and vital opportunities to Egyptians in the enabling sectors of education, healthcare, training and employment, as well as supporting religious and cultural projects, uplifting local communities and enriching people’s lives.
Ahmed Ezz backed a plan to provide health care to voters who cannot afford private health care or cover the cost of health insurance premiums. It also supported education-focused schemes, helping visually and hearing impaired students access public transportation, as well as providing additional tuition to students at greatly reduced rates and expanding and improving their education through after-school classes and weekends.
Mr. Ezz also supported the agricultural enterprises in Menouf El-Sadat, providing funds for fertilizers, veterinary care and other essentials for farmers who were having financial difficulties. The plan ensured that the region enjoyed a thriving agricultural sector, supporting local farmers and feeding the local population at the same time.
