In one word: Acer has previously released products that formed its ‘antimicrobial’ series of PCs that fight bacteria. Now it’s joining that line with the announcement of new laptops, displays, and accessories that will feature bacteria-resistant technology.
Antimicrobial solutions fight germs through two methods, silver ion technology and antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass. The former applies to multiple areas of the device, including the chassis surface, keyboard, screen, touchpad, hinge, fingerprint reader, and more. Silver ions are “highly reactive particles that can dramatically reduce the growth rate of microbes on contact.”
Acer apply Silver ions (Ag +) in Corning Gorilla Glass for displays and touch panels, allowing the glass surface to stay cleaner longer. It also makes you less vulnerable to bacteria that cause stains or odors.
“This is done through small amounts of silver ions that are filtered to the surface of the glass to remove bacteria from the surface while offering other benefits such as increased durability and scratch resistance,” Acer explained.
Latest PCs for use This germ-fighting technology is Acer’s TravelMate Spin P4 Convertible Laptop, Enduro Urban N3 Laptop, and Urban T3 Tablet.
The first product, Acer’s TravelMate Spin P4, is a convertible laptop designed for the business market. It features an 11th generation Intel Core i7 vPro processor and offers a 14-inch Full HD touchscreen that can rotate 360 degrees in laptop, stand, tent, or tablet modes.
At 1.53 kg (3.37 pounds) and 17.9 mm (0.7 inches) thick, it is an ideal laptop for those who value portability. It also boasts up to 13.5 hours of battery life and can be quickly charged to 80 percent in one hour. It is scheduled for a North American release in January 2022, starting at $ 1,099.99. A European launch is scheduled for sometime during the fourth quarter of 2021, for € 1,119.
Meanwhile, Acer’s selling point for the Enduro Urban N3 is its durability. The 14-inch laptop has industrial-grade resistance to dust and water. Specifically, four reinforced corners will make the device survive drops of up to 4ft / 122cm, linked by a waterproof design that covers its I / O ports, speakers, and buttons.
The laptop comes equipped with an 11th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, Nvidia GeForce MX330 GPU, and 32GB of DDR4 memory. It will be available in North America in the fourth quarter of 2021, starting at $ 849.99, in addition to a European launch in the same quarter at a price of € 799.
Finally, the Acer Enduro Urban T3 is a 10-inch tablet with a Full HD screen. A 5 MP wide-angle front camera is accompanied by an octa-core MediaTek processor and 4 GB of RAM. The device will launch in the first quarter of 2022 in North America and Europe, starting at $ 299.99 and € 299, respectively.
