The bad headlines that have piled up on Netflix over the past few weeks, stemming in large part from the snakes first reported quarterly drop in subscribers in more than a decade – will get even worse soon. That’s because, among other things, Netflix is forecasting that even more people will cancel their Netflix accounts during the quarterly period we’re in now.
In my opinion, anyone who terminates their account is likely doing so for at least one of two common reasons. cost and content.
The first of these, of course, not much can be done about it. Netflix sets the price and you can pay it or decide not to. Meanwhile, subscribers who cancel for the second reason often do so after feeling like they’re wasting too much time scrolling and not finding anything good to watch. the service. However, there are a few small, effortless tweaks you can make to at least marginally improve the selection of content for your Netflix account.
How to adjust your Netflix account recommendations
To get better Netflix recommendations for what to watch next, you’ll want to do two things if you haven’t already.
1) You know the thumbs up icon attached to the main tile of every Netflix title within the app? If you hover over it, a thumbs up icon and a thumbs down icon will appear. Simply tap on the one you think fits your assessment after viewing the content. Don’t close what you’re watching every time you’re done and then move on. Taking just a quick second to select one of those icons tells Netflix more about the kinds of things you like to watch.
2) In the same way, you will need to perform the next step in a web browser. Open Netflix, then click on the menu in the upper right corner. You will need to click on Account, then under Profile & Parental Controls, click on your account icon. After that, you will see a list of all the titles you have viewed. On the far right, for each one, you should see an icon that you can click that will allow you to hide that title from your viewing history. Clicking on it will reportedly tell Netflix that you really didn’t like this title and won’t recommend titles like it in the future.
And that’s all, for now. Hopefully following these two easy steps will give you a better experience with your Netflix account in the future.
Hidden Gems to Add to Your Netflix Account Watchlist
And speaking of fine-tuning your Netflix account and hopefully nudging the streaming giant to offer you more personalized selections, I’ll end this post by doing my part to offer just that. Specifically, I’d like to suggest two titles (a TV series and a documentary) that I’ve quite enjoyed on Netflix recently. And that they feel, at least to me in the US streamer market, like they’re largely hidden gems.
The title of this Swedish crime drama translates to “Easy Money”, a theme that relates to the relentless hustle and bustle at the heart of this show in which the lives of a super-ambitious businesswoman, a troubled teenager, a boss of the crime with a family connection. right down to the businesswoman, and the boss’s bully that she ends up falling for, they all intertwine. The writing here kept me hooked and always wanting the next episode right away, the action scenes are pretty fishy, and over time you come to understand the full measure of what a constant hustle for money entails.
I haven’t heard many people here talk about this at all (outside of the weird celebrity superfan). Fortunately, however, Netflix is giving Cash another season. More people definitely need to add this one to their Netflix account watchlist.
I haven’t been able to find a trailer for this documentary with English subtitles that I can share, but the clip in the tweet above should give you an idea of what scam lords is about. From the official Netflix description: “This documentary traces the rise and fall of the fraudsters who wired the EU’s carbon quota system and pocketed millions before turning on each other.“
