Round 2 of the Rotax MAX Challenge Malaysia (RMC Malaysia) will take place this weekend from May 14-15, 2022 at the Sepang International Karting Circuit, with a full grid of go-karters from all over Southeast Asia ready to go. battle it out on track to reserve their spots at the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals (RMC Grand Finals) in Portimau, Portugal, in mid-November.
“With RMC Malaysia as an exclusive series of events on this year’s racing calendar, we look forward to this racing spectacle,” said Genji Hashimoto of Amprex Motorsport, the authorized Rotax dealer and promoter of RMC Malaysia.
“At one of the most demanding race tracks in South East Asia, we want to give the Rotax family the opportunity to compete against each other on international terrain ahead of the RMC Grand Final in Portimau. Also, there is a chance to win a total of four tickets to the Grand Final,” he added.
Spread over six rounds, RMC Malaysia is made up of four categories (Micro, Junior, Senior and DD2 Masters), which has seen a total of 30 provisional entries. The overall championship winner in each respective category will represent Malaysia at the RMC Grand Final in Portugal. In addition, the overall championship podium winners (1st to 3rd) in each category will also be selected to attend the final round of the Rotax MAX Festival Japan.
The RMC Malaysia format is based on the concept of the Rotax Max Challenge Global Sports and Technical Regulations. After qualifying on Saturday morning, entrants will take part in qualifying heats on Saturday afternoon to determine the starting grids for the final races.
