Jason Roy will be out for the remainder of the T20 World Cup after England’s opener suffered a calf injury.

James Vince will replace Roy on the England team for the remainder of the tournament.

Roy said: “I’m heartbroken to be ruled out of the World Cup. It’s a bitter pill to swallow.

“I’ll stick around to support the guys and hopefully we can go all the way and lift that trophy. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and we have to keep expressing ourselves and focusing on ourselves.”

“Rehab has already begun, and although I have torn my calf, I am going to give myself the best chance of being ready for the T20 tour of the Caribbean early next year.”
