The UEFA Champions League progresses as 32 teams dream of lifting the trophy on May 28, 2022 in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
The competition is in the middle of its group stage, which will narrow the field down to 16 teams advancing to knockout rounds consisting of two-game series, home and home. In the knockout rounds that begin in February, the club that scores the most goals over the course of the two games advances to the next round. In a new twist, goals scored away from home will not be a tiebreaker from the 2021-22 European season. The UEFA Champions League final is a one-time match played in a neutral venue.
