Fantasy kicker rankings week 9: who to start with, sit on the kicker in fantasy football

Justin Tucker and Daniel Carlson have returned from their vacation and are immediately sliding down to the numbers. 1st and 2nd place on our Fantasy Kicker Rankings for Week 9. Not only are they arguably the top two kickers in the NFL, but they also have favorable matchups. Even with that said, don’t be upset if you lost either one last week, there are plenty of other solid options to start with.

Randy Bullock (@ Rams) has been a consistent scorer and has a statically good matchup in a rooftop stadium this week. Note that we did not say a “dome”, as the SoFi stadium is technically outdoors, but it is still at least partially protected from the elements. Bullock is also widely available in many leagues. Greg Joseph (@ Ravens) is also one of the season’s top scorers and is widely available, and while his matchup isn’t that great on paper, we’re not overly concerned given the unpredictability of scoring opportunities for kickers.

We also like Graham Gano (vs. Raiders) to continue his strong production. Heading into Week 7, Gano was tied for the league lead in field goals over 50 yards (5), so that’s been part of his solid performance, but he had also missed just two of his 17. attempts, the best in the league. At some point that seems to back off, but New York is likely to start giving it more PAT attempts as well, so it could level off a bit.

Dustin Hopkins has also been a great scorer this year, so it was a bit surprising when Washington eliminated him a few weeks ago. He’s caught up with the Chargers, a team that should give him ample scoring opportunities. He was tied for the league lead in fields of 40-49 yards (6) despite missing a game, so he could soon start to see more long-range connections.

Fortunately, only one of the four goodbye kickers, Ryan Succop, was likely in fantasy lineups, so if you need a replacement for him, there are plenty of options. When it comes to matchups, Michael Badgley (vs. Jets), Jason Sanders (vs. Texans), and Ka’imi Fairbairn (@ Dolphins) have the best on the board, but none are particularly reliable, both in terms of opportunities and efficiency. However, Badgley is at least kicking inside, so that’s another reason to shoot him.
