The musician died at the age of 86. According to the publication, he died at a hospital in Branson, Missouri. Causes of death are not given.
In all, Gilly had 39 top country hits and 17 No. 1 songs. He received six Academy of Country Music Awards. Gilly has also starred in such films and television series as Fantasy Island, Fallen Boy, Murder, She Wrote, and The Dukes of Hazzard.

The singer passed away on Saturday, December 12, in Dallas, Texas. At the time of his death, Pride was 86 years old.
“He was hospitalized at the end of November due to symptoms of COVID-19 and despite the incredible efforts, skills and care of his team of doctors over the last few weeks, he was unable to beat the virus,” the message reads.
Pride became the first African-American to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and achieve success in that genre of music. The artist has received the Grammy award three times.
